The Parish “Technology Group” has spent the last year evaluating our current sound system with the help of several local consulting firms. These experts work with clients like the San Francisco Symphony and Opera, The DeYoung Museum, AT&T Park, as well as many local churches, including our new “Cathedral of Christ the Light” in Oakland. Fortunately, corporate accounts subsidize the work they do with centers of worship like ours.
They have identified several problem areas our church has: room acoustics, speaker placement, low-quality wireless microphones as well as amplifiers without any delay capability. They have provided us a comprehensive and reasonable estimate of costs, but it far exceeds what we would be able to afford using funds from our general operating budget.
Under Fr. Ray’s leadership, we formed the “MultiMedia Fundraising Group” and have put a plan together to raise the needed funds to make this project possible. We have partnered with longtime and active parishioner Ron Nelson, president of Bill Nelson Chevrolet in Hilltop, to sell raffle tickets. The person with the winning ticket has the option of a 2008 Chevrolet Malibu Hybrid vehicle, or $20,000 in cash. The drawing will be on August 3, 2008.
If we sell enough tickets and the car raffle is successful, we should have the necessary funds to install a new state of the art sound system. Without having to strain to make out what is being said, we can all concentrate on the liturgy and the message of Christ.
But we won’t be successful without your help!! Please take a look at the following pages and explore what you can do help us reach our goal!!
